NUNAVUT COMAPLEX MINERALS of Calgary says it is pleased with the progress of the underground bulk sampling program that will conclude this month at its Meliadine gold project near Rankin Inlet.

The underground program focused on the Tiriganiaq deposit, and successfully exposed the 1100 and 1000 lodes, two of the dominant gold-bearing zones in the iron formation. The average diluted grade for the first 23 metres from the 1100 lode was 4.0 g/t Au and for the next 139 metres was 7.4 g/t. Open pit mining followed by longholing may be suitable for this lode.

A quartz vein in the 1000 lode is also being sampled from underground. This area is expected to have less width but a higher grade than the 1100 lode.

Comaplex has hired an independent engineering firm to completed a scoping study by October 2008. The company has a 78% interest in the Meliadine project, and can increase that to 80%. The balance is held by Meliadine Resources, a private company.
