ONTARIO – AuRico Gold of Toronto says successful exploration is continuing at its Young-Davidson gold mine 60 km west of Kirkland Lake. The primary focus is west of the mine on the YD West and West Shirriff zones.

The YD West zone lies west of the Main zone below the 9,500-metre level. Eleven of the planned 14 holes have been completed. Several intervals over the minable cut-off grade of 1.7 g/t Au were encountered: 16.9 metres grading 3.99 g/t; 66.8 metres grading 1.89 g/t including 21 metres at 2.5 g/t; 9.9 metres grading 1.71 g/t ; and 11.6 metres grading 2.77 g/t Au.

The West Shirriff area is immediately west of the YD West zone. It contains anomalous gold of the same rock type and alteration as the main zones of the mine. One hole intersected an upper zone of 0.42 g/t Au over 25.2 metres and a lower zone of 0.42 g/t over 14.2 metres. Another hole further west intersected 6.0 metres grading 0.39 g/t and a lower zone of 8.4 metres grading 0.30 g/t. Although not ore grade, AuRico considers these intersections important.

A longitudinal section of the YD West zone and a long section of the West Shirriff area, YD West and western portion of the mine may be seen in the Nov. 6, 2012, press release posted at AuRicoGold.com.
