LIBERIA – The first Liberian gold producer in recent history, the New Liberty mine owned by Aureus Mining of Britain 100 km northwest of Monrovia, has reached nameplate capacity. The first gold was poured in May 2015, and the plant has operated at 152 t/y for a continuous 12-hour period at 96% capacity.

Aureus says the CIL circuit is operational and the Vertimill is expected to be on line next month. Full scale commercial production at an annual production rate of 120,000 oz of gold in 2016 will be achieved by Q4 2015.
