ONTARIO – Northern Gold Mining of Toronto says processing the first of four batches batch of the bulk sample taken from the Garrcon deposit has yielded 1,292 oz of gold. The material was mined as part of the 80,000-tonne bulk sample to be treated at the Holt mill belonging to St Andrew Goldfields. The average mill recovery was 94.7%.

Northern Gold has also mined 150,026 tonnes from two pits, West and East. A fifth batch of ore was fed to the mill on Jan. 23. Although grade control has been a "challenge," the company said recovery appears to be constant regardless of grade.

The Garrcon deposit 40 km north of Kirkland Lake forms part of the Golden Bear project. It has measured and indicated resources of 29.2 million tonnes at 1.12 g/t Au, containing slightly more than a million ounces.. There is also an inferred resource of 6.8 million tonnes grading 2.80 g/t Au that contains another 600,000 oz.
