GUINEA – Toronto-based Iamgold says it has made a new discovery at its Karita gold project in the northeastern part of the country thanks to the results from reverse circulation drilling. The program confirmed the presence of multiple zones of wide intervals of mineralization hosted in altered metasedimentary units. Senior VP exploration Craig MacDougall said this is the third greenfields discovery along the Senegal-Mali shear zone. Notable results of the reverse circulation drilling include the following results:
  • Drill hole KRC19-001: 13.0 metres grading 2.80 g/t gold and 16.0 metres at 2.41 g/t, including 3.0 metres at 9.84 g/t;
  • Drill hole KRC19-006: 29.0 metres grading 2.96 g/t gold, including 10.0 metres at 3.52 g/t;
  • Drill hole KRC19-009: 16.0 metres grading 3.17 g/t gold, including 8.0 metres at 5.61 g/t and 32.0 metres at 1.83 g/t;
  • Drill hole KRC19-010: 22.0 metres grading 2.27 g/t gold, including 5.0 metres at 5.54 g/t; and
  • Drill hole KRC19-011: 21.0 metres grading 9.01 g/t gold, including 7.0 metres at 25.67 g/t and 7.0 metres at 2.90 g/t.
The Karita property lies between Iamgold’s wholly owned Boto and Diakha-Siribaya projects. The Boto project is currently under development with 48.0 million measured and indicated tonnes grading 1.61 g/t gold for 2.5 million contained oz. of gold, plus 2.5 million inferred tonnes at 1.80 g/t gold for 144,000 contained oz. The mineralization found at all three properties is similar. Download the latest corporate presentation at www.Iamgold.com.
