NEWFOUNDLAND – The Marathon zone, 7.0 km northeast along strike from the Leprechaun gold deposit and 5.0 km southwest along strike from the Victory gold deposit is returning very positive results, said owner Marathon Gold Corp. of Toronto. The mineralization is hosted in multiple stacked, quartz-tourmaline-pyrite veins, identical in appearance to the gold veins found throughout the rest of the Valentine gold camp south of Buchans.

Five new drill holes cut intervals of gold mineralization enclosing narrower high grade ore shoots over more than a 120-metre strike length. Assays of 2.74 g/t Au over 24.2 metres, 2.71 g/t over 16.5 metres, 2.35 g/t over 11.6 metres, 2.58 g/t over 15.4 metres and 2.50 g/t over 5.50 metres (all true thickness).

Several narrow, high grade intervals were also returned: 49.29 g/t Au over 0.6 metres, 35.72 g/t over 0.6 metres, 6.65 g/t over 1.7 metres 5.99 g/t over 2.20 metres, 10.26 g/t over 0.6 metres, 10.01 g/t over 0.6 metres, 7.61 g/t over 3.9 metres, and 7.20 g/t Au over 0.6 metres (all true thickness).

Marathon plans to continue drilling in the Marathon zone until drilling ends early in December. Work will resume on the Marathon zone and other targets in January 2015.
