QUEBEC The Lac Herbin gold mine near Val d'Or reached commercial production on Oct. 1, 2008, according to owner ALEXIS MINERALS of Toronto. Production this year is targeted at 17,000 oz of gold and in 2009 at 36,000 oz.
A steady source of income also allows Alexis to proceed with mine development. The main access ramp has reached a vertical depth of 320 metres with development of the S1 and S3 zones continuing on schedule. Underground diamond drilling continues to delineate the mineralization and replace mined-out resources.
The 74 mine employees at Lac Harbin will soon be enjoying a new office on site, and the benefits of recently implemented comprehensive safety management program.
