LIMA, Peru Not content with squeezing 111% more out of the Acari mine last year, DYANCOR MINES of Montreal has announced plans to double mill capacity. The operation produced 10,984 oz of gold in 2003, compared to 5,194 oz in 2002.
Dynacor bought 80% of the Acari gold property in 1996 and is the operator. The mill was turned over in 1998, but the full production rate was not reached until January 2004. Inferred resources are estimated at 1.15 million tonnes grading 16.4 g/t Au.
The planned plant expansion will boost throughput to 200 tonnes/day. Dynacor has purchased a cone crusher, a jaw crusher and grinding mill. Next on the shopping list are new cyanidation units. A thorough explanation and pictures of the Acari project are available at www.dynacor.com.
