NORTHERN QUEBEC - RICHMONT MINES of Montreal says it has begun mining at its East Amphi gold project near Val d'Or, and that commercial production of 16,500 tonnes/month will be reached in March 2006. The production schedule for this year calls for mining 200,000 tonnes of ore at an average grade of 4.0 g/t Au. The estimated rate of recovery at the company's Camflo mill (where it will be processed) is 97.5% for production of approximately 25,000 oz of gold.

East Amphi proven and probable reserves identified thus far total 641,000 tonnes grading 4.88 g/t Au. Measured and indicated resources are estimated to be 1.39 million tonnes averaging 5.4 g/t Au. There are also 335,200 tonnes of inferred resources at 6.06 g/t Au.

The property includes a portion of the prolific Larder Lake-Cadillac Fault, which remains largely unexplored. Richmont plans to test this area as well as others this year. Read the news releases at www.Richmont-Mines.com to stay abreast of upcoming information.
