BRITISH COLUMBIA – Banks Island Gold of Vancouver is commissioning the new grinding and flotation circuits at its Yellow Giant gold property 120 km south of Prince Rupert with the expectation that throughput will soon reach 200 t/d. Gold recovery is currently estimated at more than 90%.

Recovery with the grinding and flotation circuits in operation is much better than it was previously when the company relied on a dense media separation plant. The concentrate now averages 64 g/t Au with a final tailings grade of less than 1 g/t Au.

Banks Island says it is working on further boosting throughput with the installation of a larger mill cyclone and additional tailings filter press capacity. Those improvements are due to be installed during the first week of September.

Details about mining at Yellow Giant are posted at BanksIslandGold.com.
