QUEBEC – After stumbling through 2012, the first full year of production at the Canadian Malartic gold mine in the town of the same name, Osisko Mining Corp. is setting record after record as production numbers for the first quarter of this year are tallied.

Osisko recorded record gold production of 106,047 oz in Q1 2013 and looks to be on track toward its guidance of 485,000 to 500,000 oz this year. The average head grade has been 0.885 g/t Au and the average recovery was 88%. Last year the mill was hit by fire as well as the usual start-up bottlenecks and only 388,478 oz of gold were recovered.

The old records keep falling. A new quarterly high, 4.2 million tonnes of ore, was processed. For 90 calendar days, the average tonnage hit 47,044 t/d (and 51,439 t/d for one day in March). A one month production record was set when 42,521 oz were recovered, and a monthly record was set for processing 1.59 million tonnes in March.
