MANITOBA FORAN MINING of Flin Flon has purchased a GEKKO SYSTEMS gravity flotation intensive leach (GFIL) plant for its North Star gold project 35 km west of Snow Lake. The plant is completely modular and pre-commissioned at the factory. It need only be unpacked and reassembled on site for fast commissioning. It has a small footprint and may be upgraded as desired.
Foran plans to begin construction at the North Star silver/gold property this fall. The first phase of the decline and drift excavation along the North Star vein was finished last spring and a bulk sample taken for testing. The company has also purchased half of Hudson Bay Mining & Smelting's Snow Lake rail bed (which has been converted to a road) for access to the property. Last August it purchased the building from the former Namew mill. A $5-million loan was negotiated in September for the purchase of the Gekko plant.
