MANITOBA - Bissett, MB-based San Gold Corp. has completed the crusher upgrades at the Rice Lake project and significantly boosted mill capacity while maintaining a 94% recovery rate. The crushing circuit averaged 1,372 t/d from April 15 to 21, even reaching an all-time high of 1,522 t/d.

Improvements to the crushing plant included installing a new Metso mobile gyratory crusher as well as a new Barmac mobile tertiary crusher. A new Elrus jaw crusher was installed four months ago. The combined result of the changes is an increase from 210 to 750 hp, allowing for increased throughput while reducing the size of the feed reporting to the grinding circuit.

San Gold is planning further capacity increases towards 1,632 t/d or higher this year as the new equipment is optimized and a larger capacity screening plant is installed in June.
