ONTARIO – Following bonanza grade assays from recent drilling at the Madsen gold project near Red Lake, Pure Gold Mining of Vancouver has decided to drill an extra 26,000 metres at the property. With the additional work this fall, a total of 77,000 metres will been drilled this year. Pure Gold has budgeted $5.8 million for the added drilling. Three rigs will focus on potential expansion of the McVeigh horizon at depth and a fourth rig will test satellite targets. The portal is to be reopened and underground services reconnected, followed by an inspection of the workings and underground mapping. To direct work at Madsen, the company has named Ken Donner as VP operations. He most recently oversaw the construction of a new ventilation shaft at the Leeville mine for AMEC Foster Wheeler.
