NORTHERN QUEBEC & ONTARIO - RICHMONT MINES of Montreal is moving ahead with the redevelopment of the Beaufor gold mine near Val d'Or. Ore production is to resume from the C zone in mid-2006. This zone holds 50,000 tonnes at an average grade of 9.4 g/t Au. A ramp will be driven to the area to facilitate mining and exploration of the B zone.

Underground drilling will be resumed soon at the East Amphi gold project near Malartic. Meanwhile, work continues on the cemented rockfill plant, which is to be finished by the middle of this month. Then a 20,000-tonne bulk sample will be mined and processed at the company's nearby Camflo mill. Depending on the results of the latest bulk sample, a decision may be made by the end of this year on bringing the mine back into production.

At Dubreuilville, Ont., Richmont is acquiring a 55% interest in the Island Gold project from PATRICIA MINING. Underground work there includes extending the ramp, a ventilation raise, and a 10,000-metre diamond drilling program. Production from the Island Gold mine could begin as early as mid-2006.

Richmont (www.Richmont-Mines.com) sold 69,207 oz of gold in 2004.
