NEWFOUNDLAND - Marathon Gold Corp. of Toronto has made the initial measured and indicated resource estimate for its Valentine Lake gold project in the central part of the province. M&I resources are 3.3 million tonnes with a grade of 2.6 g/t Au and containing 277,000 oz of gold. The inferred resource is an additional 4.4 million tonnes grading 2.0 g/t Au and containing 285,000 tonnes. A 0.5 g/t Au cutoff was used.

Last year's drilling program also allowed the company to extend the strike length of the resource to 750 metres. The deposit is open down-dip and along strike in both directions. Three-quarters of the contained ounces are within 150 metres of surface.

The Valentine Lake project includes the Leprechaun deposit and several other mineralized zones.
