BRAZIL - DESERT SUN MINING of Toronto has updated the resource estimate at its Jacobina mine in the Bahia Gold Belt in the northeastern area of the country. Contained gold is estimated to be 5.3 million oz in the measured, indicated and inferred categories.

Measured and indicated resources for all zones at Jacobina now total 27.9 million tonnes grading 2.57 g/t Au and containing 2.3 million oz of gold. This is a significant increase from 24.8 million tonnes grading 2.53 g/t Au estimated in December 2004. At the Jacobina mine, drilling and development have outlined sufficient new measured and indicated resources to replace 2005 production.

Additionally, inferred mineral resources in all zones now total 33.6 million tonnes grading 2.80 g/t Au and containing 3.0 million oz of gold. A year ago the inferred mineral resource was estimated at 22.2 million tonnes grading 2.61 g/t Au.

Results of the 2005 exploration program, including deep drilling, are posted at www.DesertSunMining.com.
