QUEBEC – Richmont Mines of Montreal declared commercial production at its Monique gold project 25 km east of Val d'Or on Oct. 1, 2013. The mine is expected to produce 4,500 oz of gold during the remainder of this year.

The Monique pit is approximately 50 km from Richmont's Camflo mill where the ore will be treated. The additional 22,500 t/m from this source will ensure the mill operates efficiently at full capacity.

As of July 1, 2013, the deposit had proven and probable reserves of 485,737 tonnes grading 2.2 g/t Au or 36,698 contained oz. Over the 19-month life of the project, the company expects to recover 30,000 oz.

A brief description of the geology at Monique is available at Richmont-Mines.com.
