MEXICO - ECU SILVER MINING, which has its head office in Rouyn-Noranda, Que., has reported a "major" new gold and silver discovery at its Velardena project in the Durango state. Samples taken over 40 metres from cross-cuts on level 15 averaged 5.79 g/t Au, 194.00 g/t Ag, 1.89% Pb and 2.64% Zn. The best sample assayed 8.17 g/t Au, 204.00 g/t Ag, 2.07% Pb and 3.07% Zn over 6.00 metres.

The company says it is possible that there is vertical continuity of nearly 200 metres connecting the new discovery to the original stockwork zone on levels 17.5 and 18. The recent discovery has not yet been included in the resource database.

ECU Silver operates the Santa Juana gold-silver mine, and the new discovery is contained in parallel veins beside the Santa Juana vein on level 15. The company's Velardena property also includes the San Mateo and San Juanes deposits, both of which are accessible from underground. Visit www.ECU.ca.
