NEWFOUNDLAND – Marathon Gold Corp. of Toronto continues to drill at its Valentine Lake gold project 55 km south of Buchans, this time in the Sprite area. The company is currently testing step-out holes along half of a 1-km by 250-metre mineralized corridor outlined during the 2013 prospecting program.

Marathon reports assays of 2.53 g/t Au over 16.5 metres including 10.92 g/t Au over 0.83 metres and 14.12 g/t over 1.65 metres near surface (hole VL-14-549). Another near surface intercept assayed 2.24 g/t over 12.0 metres including 8.01 g/t over 2.4 metres (VL-14-551). A third hole cut 1.69 g/t Au over 24.0 metres (VL-14-552). The intersections are all reported as true lengths.

The Sprite area is a new exploration target, including the Sprite zone that adjoins the Leprechaun gold deposit. The Valentine Lake property includes the Leprechaun and the Victory (formerly Valentine East Hill) deposits.

The company's website, Marathon-Gold.com, includes a galley of visible gold pictures.
