NEWFOUNDLAND – Marathon Gold Corp. of Toronto has extended the strike length of the Marathon deposit in the Valentine gold camp 55 km south of Buchans. So far a mineralized corridor with a strike length of more than 30 metres, a width of 50 to 100 metres, and a vertical depth of at least 200 metres has been drilled.

Two holes drilled since the beginning of the year intersected wide intervals of gold mineralization with narrower high grade ore shoots. The best intercepts came from hole MA-15-027 that returned 2.02 g/t over 17.0 metres (true width) and 1.90 g/t Au over 12.5 metres (true length).

Marathon will continue drilling this winter at the Marathon zone in hopes of further expanding the strike length. The eight holes drilled so far this year have all intersected either quartz-tourmaline-pyrite veining in the Main zone of the Marathon deposit or they have cut a secondary zone southeast of the Main zone.
