QUEBEC BEROMA INDUSTRIES and ROCMEC MINING recently held a press conference in Val d'Or to announce the creation of a new underground 75-t/d gold treatment plant. The plant is designed for small scale mining, particularly those using Rocmec's thermal fragmentation process in narrow veins.

The UMCO 75F will make its home in the Rocmec 1 mine near Rouyn-Noranda. It is an automated modular plant that can be operated by a single technician. Ore that has undergone thermal fragmentation (see CMJ Net News, Aug. 10, 2008) will be ground to 80% passing 200 mesh. The fine ore will pass through a series of floatation cells and a gravity concentrator. The concentrate produced will be shipped to a custom refinery.

Beroma is promoting use of the UMCO 75F at advanced exploration projects when validation of grades is needed. Further information is available in French at www.Beroma.com.
