NEWFOUNDLAND – Two drills working round the clock at the Marathon deposit are returning solid assays for Toronto-based Marathon Gold Corp. The deposit lies in the Valentine gold camp 55 km south of Buchans. The best intercepts from hole MA-16-130 hit high grades 100 metres down dip from previous drilling, giving the higher grade zone a strike length of at least 350 metres. Assays included 3.20 g/t Au over 14.0 metres with 7.98 g/t over 3.5 metres. Shallow holes collared southwest of the pit resource returned 2.44 g/t Au over 7.0 metres including 9.47 g/t over 1.4 metres in hole MA-16-135. Hole 133 hit 3.84 g/t over 2.8 metres and 2.44 g/t over 2.1 metres. The company says the Marathon deposit alteration and mineralized corridor extends for at least 1.7 km. Current drilling is focused on expansion of the pit resource to the southwest and tracing high grade mineralization at depth. Drilling is also underway to expand mineralization at the Leprechaun, Sprite, Marathon and Victory deposits. Drill maps and additional information are posted at www.Marathon-Gold.com.
