QUEBEC – Wesdome Gold Mines of Toronto has made a new discovery at its Kiena property in Val d'Or. The 16-hole, summer drill program partially outlined a new zone dubbed S50 East.

Two holes were collared directly above mineralization 300 metres east of the mine workings. They encountered broad intervals of typical S50 stockwork and breccia style mineralization along a key ultramafic contact defined by magnetic surveys. The contact area has a length of 400 metres and had not previously been drilled. Hole S768 returned 2.92 g/t Au over 10.4 metres, and hole S76 returned 3.39 g/t over 25.9 metres. The best hole in the new discovery was S755 that assayed 45.05 g/t Au over 5.0 metres.

The company says that the S50 zone was the main zone of historic production at the Kiena mine. The zone remains open at depth and perhaps to the east.

Wesdome also tested the Dubuisson North zone where these intersections were recorded: 16.75 g/t Au over 12.5 metres, 10.65 g/t over 4.3 metres, 7.26 g/t over 3.2 metres and 2.22 g/t over 8.5 metres. Drilling has partially delineated at least two steeply dipping lenses above a depth of 300 metres. Mineralization consists of stockwork quartz-tourmaline veining carrying pyrite and native gold hosted by feldspar porphyry sills encased in komatiites and talc-chlorite schist.

Complete details of the summer drilling program are available in the news release dated Nov. 19, 2014, and posted at Wesdome.com.
