Goldcorp named to NASDAQ global sustainability index

Canadian mining giant Goldcorp Inc has just been recognized by NASDAQ as one of the Top 100 companies in the world for its sustainability practices as part of its NASDAQ OMX CRD Global Sustainability Index.

Canadian mining giant Goldcorp Inc has just been recognized by NASDAQ as one of the Top 100 companies in the world for its sustainability practices as part of its NASDAQ OMX CRD Global Sustainability Index.

 The Index is an equity-weighed index made up of 100 companies that lead in measuring and reporting their carbon footprint, energy usage, water consumption, hazardous and non-hazardous waste generation. Workforce initiatives and community investment.

 Companies included in the Index must voluntarily disclose their current environment, social and governance risks as well as their revenue opportunities and how it will affect future performance.

 Consistent with NASDAQ Index criteria, Goldcorp recently published an on-line annual Sustainability Report that uses the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Sustainability Reporting Guidelines. The company's report is prepared based on International Council of Mining and Metals (ICMM) standards and principles.

 Goldcorp was also added to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index North America in 2010.
