QUEBEC - Ottawa-based Focus Metals has filed a 43-101-compliant mineral resource report for its Lac Knife graphite project near Fermont. The estimate included measured and indicated resources of 5.0 million tonnes grading 15.67% Cgr plus an inferred resource of 3.0 million tonnes at 15.58%.

The estimate includes five different zones, all of which begin at the surface and were drilled to a depth of 125 metres. All of the zones are open in all directions, said the company. Focus believes the deposit is the best grade graphite in the world. Further drilling and a scoping study are planned for 2012.

As currently projected, the Lac Knife project would produce up to 25,000 t/y of large, medium and small flake graphite. The life of the mine would be 40 years.
