VANCOUVER - FINNING INTERNATIONAL has sold $264-million worth of haulage trucks to CANADIAN NATURAL RESOURCES (CNRL) for its Horizon oil sands project. The sale includes 23 new Caterpillar 797B trucks and a multi-year support agreement. The trucks are to be delivered in 2008.
CNRL is building the Horizon oil sands project located 70 km north of Fort McMurray, Alberta. The company plans three phases of open pit development. Production of synthetic crude oil is expected to begin during the second half of 2008 ramping up to a rate of 110,000 bbl/day. The second phase of production is expected in 2010 with an increase in production of 45,000 barrels. The third phase of development is expected in 2012 and will bring total production to 232,000 bbl/day.
