OTTAWA - Everything you wanted to know about NORANDA, and more than 200 pictures as well, is available in the new bilingual book, "Noranda: From Murdoch to Pannell".

In the words of the author, "This book covers the complete history of Noranda from its first president, James Y. Murdoch, to the last chief executive officer, Derek G. Pannell. Discover the rich history of this Canadian mining giant, born amidst Northern Quebec's wilderness from the perseverance of a prospector that grew to become a worldwide mining and natural resources leader."

The author is Pierre Barrette, who was born in Noranda, Que., and began his career at Noranda's Horne smelter. Today he is manager of surface operations at Xstrata Nickel's Raglan mine.
