LABRADOR and QUEBEC – Century Iron Mines of Toronto has released updates on three of its projects – the feasibility study for Joyce Lake, the preliminary economic assessment for Full Moon and the maiden 43-101 report for Black Bird - .all in the Labrador Trough near Schefferville, QC.

The feasibility study for the Joyce Lake direct shipping iron ore deposit in Labrador examines open pit mining, to be followed by dry crushing and screening to generate products that are 65% sinter fines and 35% lump. Such a project has an initial capital cost of $259.6 million. WISCO Attikamagen has the right to purchase up to 60% of the output.

Century has completed the preliminary economic assessment of the Full Moon taconite project in Quebec. An open pit mine and concentrator that would produce both magnetite and hematite products are proposed. The costs of developing the mine, mill, tailings management area, infrastructure, rail line as well as indirects and contingencies could by as high as $9.1 billion for a pellet product or roughly $7.2 billion for a concentrate product.

The Black Bird DSO deposit is also located in Quebec. The first indicated resource estimate is 1.55 million tonnes averaging 59.93% Fe, and the inferred estimate is 8.61 million tonnes averaging 57.01% Fe. Century says that this deposit is part of a new DSO belt running from the Iron Arm area to Lac Le Fer, a zone outside the traditional DSO mining discoveries.
