ONTARIO - Toronto-based Rockex Mining says that according to 43-101 numbers, its Eagle Island deposit contains 590.8 million tonnes grading 28.84% Fe in the indicated category and 415.8 million tonnes grading 29.47% Fe in the inferred category. A cutoff grade of 18% soluble iron was used.

The Eagle Island deposit is part of the Western Lake St Joseph property located between Pickle Lake and Sioux Lookout. The area saw a fair amount of iron ore exploration dating back to the 1920's. The first resource estimates were made in the 1960s. Algoma ran a sample of ore through a pilot plant and determined that a commercial grade concentrate with 65.0-67.0% Fe and 4.5-5.5% SiO2 could be made. Rockex acquired the property in May 2008.
