ONTARIO – SGS’s new, fully equipped, commercial geochemistry laboratory in Cochrane is now open and receiving samples. The Cochrane laboratory has been strategically located to service the growing needs of the minerals exploration industry in northeastern Ontario and northwestern Quebec. The official opening of the new facility will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012.

The Cochrane lab offers the following geochemical procedures:

  • Sample preparation for soils, drill core and reverse circulation samples
  • Fire assay for gold with ICP-OES, AAS and gravimetric finish
  • Carbon and sulphur analysis by LECO and coulometry
  • Trace metal analysis by inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES)

The lab also functions as a gateway to SGS’ industry leading sampling, resource assessment, geometallurgy and metallurgical capabilities.
