PHILADELPHIA - THERMO ELECTRON CORP. has re-engineered its SampleManager laboratory information management system (LIMS). Version 9.0 has been adapted to the Microsoft .NET application, incorporating a service-oriented architecture. SampleManager now has an all-new, modern user interface and enhanced functionality.

The new interface prompts users to take specific, predefined steps, making training and day-to-day use much easier, says Thermo. For example, the "Task" view tells the user only what tasks can be carried out on a select data set, thus reducing errors.

Functionality is improved with enhanced specification checking and web results entry in the new version. Specification checking is multi-level, able to check against groups, lots, jobs and collections of samples in addition to the standard single sample. Web result entry is all new, enabling remote users to get a sample and enter results over a web client.

Complete information about SampleManager software is available at www.Thermo.com.
