(Image: Orocobre Limited)[/caption] JAPAN – Headquartered in Brisbane, Australia, Orocobre with Toyota Tsusho Corp. and Toyotsu Lithium Corp. have broken ground and begun  construction at the Naraha lithium hydroxide plant. The plant is the first of its kind to be built in this country. The plant will convert lithium carbonate feedstock sourced from the Olaroz lithium project in northern Argentina into battery grade lithium hydroxide. The output is intended for Japanese battery producers. Toyota Tsusho will act as exclusive sales agent. A cathode manufacturing facility is already in operation near the Naraha plant, and plans have been announced to develop a battery making facility there.
