COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho – Hecla Mining has completed its acquisition of Vancouver-based Aurizon Mines. Hecla has several silver mines and now adds the Casa Berardi gold mine in Quebec to its assets. The mine is expected to produce between 125,000 and 130,000 oz of gold in 2013.

Hecla acquired all of the outstanding common shares of Aurizon for total consideration of approximately C$514 million and 56,997,790 shares of Hecla common stock. With completion of the acquisition, Aurizon shares are expected to be delisted from the Toronto Stock Exchange with effect from the close of trading on June 5, 2013, and the NYSE MKT was expected to suspend trading in Aurizon shares prior to the opening of the market on Monday.

The Casa Berardi mine is the site of a shaft deepening project that will help extend its life beyond 2023. Several Aurizon exploration projects in Quebec will also come under the Hecla umbrella.

The Hecla website is at Hecla-Mining.com.
