LAKEFIELD, ONTARIO - SGS MINERALS SERVICES is expanding its automated process mineralogy services thanks to an alliance with the Australian firm INTELLECTION. The alliance paves the way for creation of an SGS Advanced Mineralogy Service Centre in Lakefield and a similar facility in Brisbane, Australia.

Both service centres will house Intellection's Qemscan instrumentation. Analysis using this equipment is faster, more statistically robust and more cost-effective than optical mineralogy, says SGS. The data generated are used in bankable feasibility studies, ore characterization programs and to provide key information to improve operations performance and metal recovery.
