VANCOUVER - FINNING INTERNATIONAL announced that its South American Mining division has secured contracts worth $125 million-for Caterpillar equipment and associated maintenance and repair services to two major South American mines.

The first sale is to MINERA EL TESORO, a part of the ANTOFAGASTA MINERALS GROUP in Chile. The new equipment package is worth Cdn$31 million. It includes nine 793C off-highway trucks, three 994D front-end loaders, a 769D WT truck, a D9T bulldozer and a 16H motor grader. The new equipment together with the existing El Tesoro fleet will be covered by a new five-year maintenance and repair contract with a total value of Cdn$55 million. The equipment is expected to be delivered during 2005.

The second sale is to WASHINGTON GROUP INTERNATIONAL, the mining contractor for MINERA SAN CRISTOBAL in Bolivia. The equipment sale has a value of Cdn$39 million and consists of ten 789C off-highway trucks, two 994D wheel loaders, two D10R track dozers, a 16H motor grader, a 834H wheel loader, a 988F wheel loader and two PV271 Atlas Copco drills. The sale also includes a technical assistance contract to support the new equipment for the first few months of the mine's operations. The equipment is expected to be delivered over the course of 2005 and 2006.
