The Alberta Environmental Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting Agency (AEMERA) of Edmonton has invited six international recognized experts to create a science advisory panel. They are Dr. Jill Baron (chair), Dr. John Giesy, Dr. Joanne Nightingale, Dr. Reed Noss, Dr. Russell Schnell, Dr. Alexander J.B. (Sascha) Zehnder. To complement this panel, AEMERA will appoint a traditional ecological knowledge panel this spring.

Robert Gruss is the new managing director of Aumund Fordertechnik in Rheinberg, Germany. His responsibilities include expanding the company's reach into metallurgy, mining and minerals, among other industries.

Vancouver-based Pan American Silver has asked Michael Steinmann to be its president. He will report to CEO Geoff Burns. Prior to his promotion, Steinmann was the company's executive VP, corporate development and geology.

The new chairman of the board at Toronto's St Andrew Goldfields is Herbert Abramson. He has been a director since 1994, and previously was chairman from 1995 to 2009. John Hick was appointed lead director, and Don Njegovan has joined the board.
