MINING PEOPLE: African Barrick, Caledonia Mining, Canada Lithium, Nickel Institute, and Stornoway

African Barrick Gold of London, UK, has named Bradley A. Gordon as its new chief executive, succeeding Greg Hawkins who has resigned to pursue other opportunities. Gordon was previously the CEO of Intrepid Mines.

The new COO at Toronto-based Caledonia Mining Corp. is Dana Roets. He holds a BSc in mining engineering from Pretoria University and an MBA from the University of Cape Town. He is the former COO of Great Basin Gold. Roets will work from the company's office in Johannesburg, SA.

Canada Lithium Corp. of Toronto has named former FMC Corp. process plant veteran Michael Seawright as process plant manager of the Quebec Lithium plant. Two other former FMC employees, Pratt Ray and Eric Carter, have also joined the Canada Lithium to provide expertise in process engineering and mechanical maintenance.

The Nickel Institute of Toronto and Brussels, Belgium, has appointed David Butler to the post of executive director and general counsel. He is based in the Toronto office.

Hume Kyle has joined the board of directors at Montreal-based Stornoway Diamond Corp. He is also executive VP and CFO of Dundee Precious Metals.
