MINING PEOPLE: Agnico Eagle, Denison, Int’l Tower Hill, Sherritt, and True Gold

Ammar Al-Joundi is rejoining Toronto-based Agnico Eagle Mines as president, effective April 6, 2015. He was formerly the CFO and senior executive VP of Barrick Gold, and prior to that he was Agnico 's CFO. Sean Boyd's title will change to vice-chair and CEO.

Other appointments at Agnico Eagle include the following: Carol Plummer as VP project development USA and Latin America; Dominique Girard as VP technical services and Nunavut operations; Nancy Guay as senior corporate director of technical services; Michael Timmins as VP corporate development; and Michel Julien as VP environment.

Denison Mines of Toronto has named Ron Hochstein executive chair and David Cates president and CEO. Lukas Lundin has resigned his role as chairman but will continue to sit on the board.

Vancouver-based International Tower Hill Mines has appointed Karl L. Hanneman its COO. He was recently the general manager of the Livengood gold project, and before that he was part of the Red Dog zinc and Pogo gold mines teams.

The new COO of Toronto's Sherritt International is Steve Wood. He also holds the position of executive VP. He will oversee all operations, environment, health and safety, sustainability, technologies, engineering and marketing.

True Gold Mining of Vancouver has asked Christian Milau to be its CEO, beginning on April 27, 2015. He was recently an executive of Endeavour Mining.
