MINING PEOPLE: Candente Gold, Coronado, Largo Resources, and Pershimco

Candente Gold Corp. of Vancouver has named Paul H. Barry the new chairman of the board. He is a former executive VP of Kinross Gold.

Candente Gold Corp. of Vancouver has named Paul H. Barry the new chairman of the board. He is a former executive VP of Kinross Gold.

The new CEO of Vancouver-based Coronado Resources is Hugh Rogers. He holds a BSc degree from the University of British Columbia and an LLB from the University of New Brunswick. Rogers will also have a seat on the board.

Mark A. Smith has been appointed president and CEO of Largo Resources in Toronto, effective April 1, 2015. He is currently executive chairman of NioCorp and from 2008 to 2012 was president and CEO of Molycorp. Smith will succeed Mark Brennan, who is retiring.

The newest director at Pershimco Resources of Rouyn-Noranda, QC, is Angelina Mehta. She replaces Andrew Pullar in filling Sentient's seat on the board. Mehta holds a mining engineering degree and an MBA from McGill University before working for Iron Ore Company of Canada. She is also a member of the advisory board of McGill's mining program and a founding member of Women in Mining Montreal.
