Dr. Kenneth G. Thomas has joined the board of directors at Candente Gold Corp. of Vancouver. Until his retirement last  year he was senior VP project for Kinross Gold. Earlier in his career, Thomas played a leading role in all aspects of mineral processing facilities at Barrick's Goldstrike mine. He is also the holder of several awards: the Canadian Mineral Processor' Mill Man of the Year (1991) and both the CIM's Airey Award (1999) and Selwyn G. Blaylock Medal (2001).

Alex Balogh has joined the advisory board of North American Nickel in Vancouver. He is the former chairman and CEO of Falconbridge, deputy chairman of Noranda. and CEO of Noranda Minerals. Balogh has served as chairman of the International Council on Metals and the Environment (ICME), chairman of the Council of Mining and Metallurgical Institutes, director of the Mining Association of Canada. He also sits on The Sentient Council and is a current member of the advisory board of Hatch Associates.

Scorpio Mining Corp. of Vancouver has named Pierre Lacombe its new president and CEO. The graduate of Ecole Polytechnique Montreal, he has over 28 years' experience including many years in Latin America.

Toronto-based Unigold has strengthened its executive team with the addition of Wes Hanson as COO and technical director. He brings technical, operational and corporate management experience to the post and will be instrumental in compiling tithe initial NI 43-101 resource estimate  at the Neita project in Dominican Republic.
