MINING PEOPLE: Champion Iron, Denison, Energizer Resources, and North American Nickel

David Cataford has joined Champion Iron Limited of Montreal as the company's new VP engineering. He assumes responsibility for the Consolidated Fire Lake North feasibility study.

Toronto-based Denison Mines Corp. has hired Peter Longo as its VP project development. Longo is a mining engineer who began his career in Sudbury and was most recently VP operations for Claude Resources. He will be based in Saskatoon as he heads the team advancing the Wheeler River uranium project.

Energizer Resources of Toronto has appointed two industry experts – Dean Comand and Dalton Larson – as independent directors. Comand is a former Sherritt employee who was VP operations at the Ambatovy joint venture in Madagascar. Larson is a former partner of a major Vancouver law firm.

John Sabine has been named non-executive chairman of Vancouver-based North American Nickel. Senior counsel to Bennett Jones LLP, he has served as director of several public and private companies.
