MINING PEOPLE: Claude Resources, Kirkland Lake Gold, and Wood Bison Environment

Senior mining executive Patrick Downey has been invited to join the board of Claude Resources in Saskatoon. He was most recently the president and CEO of Elgin Mining, which was acquired by Mandalay Resources last June.

Kirkland Lake Gold of Kirkland Lake, ON, has named Eric Steven Sprott as chairman of the board, subject to regulatory approvals. In 1981 he founded Sprott Securities, now Cormark Securities. He recently resigned his position as lead portfolio manager at Sprott Asset Management but remains chairman of Sprott Inc.

Ryan Abel, representing the Fort McKay First Nation, has joined the Wood Buffalo Environmental Association as a member of its governance committee. He is the environmental lead, in situ and forestry with the Fort McKay First Nation, represents Fort McKay on the WBEA general members board, and manages the Oski-otin air monitoring site.
