CRYSTALLEX INTERNATIONAL has hired Ken Thomas as its COO. A process engineer, he will oversee the company's Las Cristinas project in Venezuela. Thomas has won the Selwyn G. Blaylock medal awarded by the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum and the Mill Man of the Year from the Canadian Mineral Processors.

Anthony (Tony) Walsh has joined the board of NORTHERN MINING EXPLORATIONS as an independent director. He is also president and CEO of Miramar Mining Corp.

John W. Sarawin is the newly-appointed VP of marketing for McKENZIE BAY INTERNATIONAL. McKenzie Bay hopes to develop the Lac Dor vanadium-titanium deposit near Chibougamau, Que., for production this year.

ALGOMA STEEL announced that Alexander Adam has retired from is board. He was also Algoma president and CEO from June 1996 to August 2002.
