Vancouver-based ABACUS MINING & EXPLORATION has named James Whittaker as project manager for the development of the Afton-Ajax mine near Kamloops, B.C. He holds a degree in extractive metallurgy from Dalhousie University/Technical University of Nova Scotia.

Paul Bonneville, formerly of Ross-Finlay and Dumas Contracting, is now VP mining at Montreal's CADISCOR RESOURCES. He will head the company's development projects including the reopening of the Sleeping Giant gold mine in Ontario.

CREAM MINERALS of Vancouver has a new president and CEO, Michael E. O'Connor, who brings with him a background in capital markets, development finance and communications. Frank Lang has assumed the role of chairman at Cream.

Mark J. Morabito will add the duties of president to his responsibilities as CEO at CROSSHAIR EXPLORATION & MINING of Vancouver. Former president and COO Paul Hosford is leaving the company effective Oct. 31, 2008.

HUDBAY MINERALS of Winnipeg and Toronto has named Michael D. Winship president and COO. He is a former COO of PT Inco. HudBay has also named Alan Hair, former VP metallurgy, safety, health and environment, its senior VP development; he will be based in the Toronto office. Tom Goodman, former VP technical services and human resources, becomes senior VP operations at Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting; he will remain in Flin Flon, Man.

Jane Danoczi has joined Saskatoon-based SHORE GOLD's team as manager of process design for the Star diamond project. She holds degrees in physics, applied mathematics and engineering and had 10 years experience with De Beers in South Africa.
