Acadian Mining Corp. of Halifax has named Grant Ewing to the role of president and CEO, effective immediately. He has over 20 years experience as an exploration geologist and in senior level executive positions in several mining companies. Acting president and CEO Peter Lee will remain on the board of directors.

The new president and CEO of Toronto-based Castle Resources is Mike Sylvestre. He is a veteran executive of Vale's operations in New Caledonia, Manitoba and Indonesia. He holds a MSc from McGill University and a BSc in mining engineering from Queen's University.

Vancouver-based Copper Ridge Explorations has named J. Greg Dawson to the president's office from his previous role as the company's VP exploration. He is a former Teck Exploration employee and holder of a BSc in geology from the University of British Columbia and a MSc in mineral exploration from Queen's University. He is also a director of the Association for Mineral Exploration British Columbia and sits on the safety committee and chairs the land use committee.

MetalCorp Ltd. of Toronto has named Chris Dougherty its new president.

Executives of Osisko Mining have taken over new duties following that company's acquisition of 77.8% of Vancouver-based Brett Resources. The new team includes Sean Roosen as president and CEO, Robert Wares as COO, Bryan A. Coates as CFO, John Burzynski as VP corporate development, Sergio Cattalani as VP exploration, and Robert Mailhot as VP human resources. All six men have also been named directors of the company.
