L'Association de l'exploration minière du Québec has elected a new executive for 2011. They are president M. Ghislain Poirier (Stornoway Diamond), VP regulatory and community relations Mathieu Savard (Virginia Mines), VP environment and land access André Vachon (Roche Group), VP strategic planning Frank Marriage (Miller Thompson LLP), VP communications Mélissa Desrochers (TMR Communications), VP finance and taxation Gino Roger (Midland Exploration) and secretary-treasurer Jean-François Ouellette (Technical Services Géonordic).

Toronto-based Apogee Minerals has named Oscar Calero its new VP of operations. Previously he was superintendent of projects and productivity at a Peruvian base metal mining company.

Jay S. Layman will be the new VP and COO at Seabridge Gold of Toronto, effective March 1, 2011. He will be responsible for managing the engineering and design of the company's KSM project in British Columbia and the Courageous Lake project in the Northwest Territories. He is a former employee of Newmont Mining.

Calgary-based St. Augustine Gold and Copper has added Tom Henderson to its executive to carry out the duties of COO. He is a former manager of the Grasberg open pit mine in New Guinea.
