MINING PEOPLE IN THE NEWS: Alderon, Goldrush, Majescor and Reliant Gold

Vancouver-based Alderon Resource Corp. has hired Brian Penney as COO. He is a former general manager of processing at Iron Ore Co. of Canada.

Goldrush Resources of Vancouver has named John Learn to the position of chief geologist, effective June 1, 2011. He has an honours BSc in geological sciences from Brock University and an MSc in applied mineral exploration from McGill University. Learn is a former Cogema Canada geologist active in the hunt for gold and uranium.

Dr. C. Tucker Barrie is the new VP exploration at Montreal's Majescor Resources. He has over 20 years of experience and runs his own company, C.T. Barrie and Associates.

Reliant Gold of Toronto has named former Noranda director of mining Andrew Harasimowicz (Hara) as the company's incoming president and CEO. He has more than 35 years of experience as a mining engineer working for Falconbridge as well as Noranda. Since 2001, Hara has provided consulting services to the mining sector.
