Vancouver-based AMERA RESOURCES has named Peter C. Ellsworth is new VP exploration to direct the company's efforts in Latin America. At the same time, Amera announced the Dr. David Terry has agreed to become a director of the company.

The AUSTRALASIAN INSTITUTE OF MINING AND METALLURGY (AusIMM) has offered the job of CEO to Michael Catchpole.

Cecil D. Andrus, former Idaho governor and U.S. secretary of the interior, is joining the board of Vancouver-based FORMATION CAPITAL. Formation is developing a cobalt mine in Lemhi County, Idaho, and operates the Sunshine hydrometallurgical facility in Shoshone County, Idaho.

NEWMONT MINING of Denver has elected Vincent A. Calarco non-executive chairman of the board, effective Jan. 1, 2008. Former chairman Wayne Murdy is retiring at the end of this year.

Perry English, who has provided full-time prospecting services to RUBICON MINERALS of Vancouver since 2003, has been named the 2007 Ontario Prospector of the Year.

XSTRATA of Zug, Switzerland, has invited Claude Lamoureaux to join its board of directors, effective Jan. 1, 2008. He was until recently the president and CEO of the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan.
