David Rae is the new president of Vancouver-based Andean American Mining. A long-time employee of Falconbridge, he managed the integration of the nickel business following the takeover of Falconbridge by Xstrata and served as Xstrata Nickel's senior VP of Europe and Africa.

Barrick Gold of Toronto is changing its senior management as executive VP and general counsel Patrick Garver retires on July 31. Vince Borg, executive VP corporate communications, will leave Barrick on the same date to work with founder and chairman Peter Munk on other business ventures. Consequently, Barrick's legal, communications and corporate affairs functions will be combined and will report to Kelvin Dushnisky, executive VP corporate affairs. Sybil Veenman will replace Garver as senior VP and general counsel.

Ottawa-based Industrial Minerals and its 51%-owned subsidiary Northern Graphite Corp. have named John Rogers senior project advisor for Northern's Bissett Creek project in Ontario. Gregory Bowes is the new CEO and CFO of Industrial Minerals following the resignation of Bob Dinninng. Mehmet Taner will be the project geologist and qualified person. Miles Nagamatsu is now CFO of Northern.

Formerly known as International Nickel Ventures, INV Metals of Toronto has appointed Candace MacGibbon president and CFO, effective immediately. She is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario and of Sir Wilfred Laurier University. Robert Bell will contain in the role of CEO. Appointed to the board of directors are Paul Conibear and Parviz Farsangi with Terry MacGibbon elected chairman.
